Christopher Mark Bonvillian, Sr. “Kit” passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the age of 72. Kit was a native of Baton Rouge, LA, and a graduate from Istrouma High School class of 1971. After graduating, he attended Tulane University, where he played Division I college football for four years. A lifelong lover of sports and coaching, Kit earned a degree in Kinesiology and planned to pursue a career in football coaching; however, God led him in a different direction. He took a summer job in construction and never left the industry. In 1981, he co-founded the highly successful company, Iberville Insulations, Inc. Kit deeply loved his employees and truly believed in them. Above all, Kit was a devoted family man who gave generously of his time to his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons. On weekends, he could often be found at his grandsons’ sporting events or working on his property. Kit was also a faithful member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where he served for many years as an Elder and Sunday School teacher. Kit’s faith in his Lord Jesus Christ was unshakable. Kit is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gerri; son, Chris Bonvillian, Jr. (Hayley); grandsons, Drew and Eli; brothers, John Howard (Patty), Tim, and Will (Kathy); sister-in-law, Judy McVea (Robert); and a host of other loving family members and friends. Kit is preceded in death by his parents, William “Plug” and Marjorie Bonvillian; sisters, Kristyn Bonvillian, Sandra Comeaux, and Infant Mary Dale Bonvillian; sister-in-law, Clara Bonvillian; and brother-in-law, Aubrey Comeaux. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Kim Patterson, Shirley Washington, and Frank and Lasandra Coleman for their compassion and dedication, as well as to the staff at The Carpenter House for their kindness, comfort, and support during this time. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 9am until the time of funeral services at 11am, celebrated by Rev.
