

"Clara Hyde Heiman (9-12-1925 "“ 6-3-2017) was born in Chesbrough, Louisiana (Tangipahoa Parish). She and her twin brother, Claude, were born at home. They were the youngest of the seven children in the family. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius Jesse and Eva Hyde; and her husband of 55 years, Harold "Speedy" Heiman; and her sister and brothers. She is survived by her son, Meyer Heiman and his wife Judy of Mandeville, LA, and her daughter, Beth Heiman Meredith and her husband, John Meredith of Baton Rouge, LA. Clara had 4 grandchildren: Dr. Jonathan Neal Heiman and his wife, Lauren Larter Heiman, of Mandeville LA; Kathryn Elizabeth Heiman Collins and her husband, Justin Collins of New Orleans, LA; Ashley Rebecca Heiman Wilmore and her husband, Charles Wilmore, of Metairie, LA; Kristen Alexis Heiman Pollet and her husband, Dr. David Pollet, of New Orleans, LA. Clara is also survived by 9 great grandchildren: Lucas Daniel Heiman, Dylan Neal Heiman, Logan Jonathan Heiman, Lucy Grace Collins, Kathryn Stowe Collins, Adriana Marie Wilmore, Angelina Ashley Wilmore, James Anderson Pollet, and William Jude Pollet. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Clara was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University where she was selected Strawberry Queen and a Campus Beauty. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted herself full time to family. She was always home when her children got home from school so that she could discuss school events and have a hot meal prepared. After the children were no longer home, she took special interest in their activities, always offering to help when she could. She read the BIBLE every day until it was no longer possible. The family would like to thank our dear family friend, Ann Davis of Woodville, MS, for the love, friendship, and care shown to mother both before and during her illness. We extend thanks to Mary Jack who helped care for Mother several years. We would also like to thank the Staff at St. James Place for their loving care of our mother over the past year, particularly, Edna Rami and Vickie Foster. In addition, many thanks to the Nurses at the Hospice of Baton Rouge, particularly LaToya Campbell. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East Chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 9:00 am until religious services at 11:00 am conducted by Rev. Dr. David Goza. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm in the Hyde Cemetery in Chesbrough conducted by Rick Newton. Pallbearers will be her son, Meyer Heiman, Dr. Jonathan Heiman, Dr. David Pollet, Charles Wilmore and Justin Collins. Honorary pallbearer is her son-in-law, John Meredith and Michael Barnett. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Alzheimer's Association of Baton Rouge.
