Fontenot, who will always be remembered for his unconditional love for Mona, his wife of 52 years, and their four children, passed away peacefully at 11:41 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009, at age 72. He recognized and appreciated the inherent dignity of every person, regardless of his of her circumstances, and bestowed upon each and every one the respect they deserved. He enjoyed a lifelong passion for fishing, hunting and cooking. He also loved the sport of track and took immense pride as a member of the McNeese State championship team of 1958. Above all else, he treasured his family the most. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend who was affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. Clay is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mona; their four children, Debbie and special friend Peg, Angie and spouse Lonnie, Julie and spouse Phil, and Scotty and spouse Tiffany; his grandchildren, Lorie and spouse Grady, Clay, Emily, Elise, Austin and Jackson; and his great-grandchildren, Grady Jr., Galen, Saren and Aidan. The family received family and friends at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Friday, March 27, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Duhé and the Rev. Frank Bass. Entombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family wishes to offer special thanks to Bea Lafleur with St. Joseph Hospice and Dr. Jay Brooks and his staff.
