On May 24, 2025 at 11:10 a.m. our mother closed her eyes in death only to open them again to see her Lord and Savior with His arms opened wide, saying: “Come on over, Connie! It’s your time now to enter Heaven’s gates. Welcome Home, my Child!” We can only imagine her joy and excitement as she ran quickly and pain-free through those gates to her Heavenly Father!!
Connie (Cornelia) Bankston Cutrer was 88 years old. She was born August 15, 1936, in Franklinton, Louisiana to Russell and Hettie Bankston. Her siblings were John Russell, Carmen, Vivian, Dorothy, and Sally. She is survived by only one - Dorothy Cowen. Connie’s husband, Ronald Alan Cutrer, also preceded her in death on September 21, 2021. She is survived by all four of her children, Rhonda Galipeau, Renee James, Ronnie Cutrer, and Robin Gordon, along with 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren.
Connie was a devoted follower of Christ and spent many hours lifting her children and grandchildren up to Him in prayer. We always knew that she was interceding for us in her bold, unwavering way. She was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Central for many years. When she became homebound, she still continued to support them and stay in touch. She had her sweet daughter-in-law, Lisa, take her to the church library on a regular basis because Connie LOVED her books – her favorite being Christian fiction. It was hard keeping her supplied with books because she read them so quickly! It was also hard to find books that she hadn’t read. Another passion of hers was sports. She was an avid LSU and Saints fan. Her favorite was LSU Baseball. She also loved the Bengals because of their quarterback. My, how our mom loved her sports!!! She could be heard hooting and hollering at the teams from outside! One of her other favorite pastimes was watching the many birds and geese that fed right outside her windows. We are thankful that Mom was able to stay at home until the last few months of her life and deeply appreciate the compassionate care she received at The Butterfly Wing, Hospice Care at Baton Rouge General.
The family would like to ask for privacy during this time. As per Mom’s request, there will be no burial/funeral services. She asked that only the immediate family have an informal gathering in her memory at a later date. Your prayers and thoughts are greatly appreciated during this time. Please know that we are at peace because we know that our mom is also at peace with her Lord. We also know that one day, we will be reunited with her and our dad – what a day that will be!!!
