Consuelo Corripio (Connie) passed peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 3. She was born in the town of Holguin in eastern Cuba to two loving parents, Miguel Angel and Consuelo Elena Careaga. After completing High School, she immigrated to the United States to escape the Castro brothers’ communist dictatorship. In 1962, she married Armando Corripio and the two enjoyed sixty years of blissful marriage. She earned a BS degree in Education from LSU in 1976, and a Juris Doctor from the LSU Law School in 1982, but her career was cut short by Multiple Sclerosis. She was a partner in the Brazan and Corripio law firm, and served in the Tribunal for the Dioceses of Baton Rouge. She was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and served in the liturgy committees of St. George Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton Massachusetts. Preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Armando. Survived by her husband, daughters Connie Nodier and husband Michael of Lake Charles, and Sister Mary St. Kisai Corripio, SNDdN, of Hiroshima, Japan; sons Bernardo Corripio and wife Lacey of Baton Rouge, and Michael Corripio and wife Dawn Neal of League City, TX; grandsons Nicholas, Garrett and Roman Corripio, Robert and David Nodier; granddaughters Riley and Allyson Neal, sister Estella LeBlanc and husband Raymond of Sulphur, LA.
Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, December 9. Mass of Christian burial at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue, at 12:30 PM on Saturday, December 10 followed by interment at St. George mausoleum.
