

A genuine lady and devoted care-giver to her family, died March21, 2013, at Ollie Steel Burden Manor, Baton Rouge. She was 85, a native of Dutchtown, and a resident of Baton Rouge. Cora Lee served as a Secretary/Executive Secretary for more than 47 years for agencies within the city. Visitation at St. Francis Chapel at Ollie Steel Burden Manor, 4250 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge on March, 25, 2013, at 10:45 a.m.until Mass of Christian Burial, at 11:30 a.m. celebrated by Father Mike Collins. Interment in Prairieville Cemetery. Mrs. Lafleur is survived by two sisters: Barbara&her husband, William R. Holden and Harriet (Mrs. Paul E.) Miller, both of Baton Rouge; two nieces&their husbands: Peggy and Brian L. Theis, Piano, TX and Judith and Daniel P. Stegemoeller, Roswell, GA; three great- nieces: Erin, Gretchen and Mary Grace Theis, Piano, TX; two great-nephews: Benton and Will Stegemoeller, Roswell, GA; a step-nephew, Brian T. Miller, Baton Rouge and a step-niece, Renee M. Rivault, Lafayette, LA; five sisters-in-law: Annie L. Bidstrup, Washington, LA; Belle Lafleur, Sandra L. Mistric, and Juliette L. Venable of Opelousas, LA and Catherine L. St. Cyr, Bunkie, LA; plus numerous cousins and cousins-in-law. Preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert Alexander Lafleur, and her parents, Andrew J. and Harriet Smith Babin. Family came first to this loyal and very religious individual. Cora Lee is remembered by her family as a selfless nurturer devoted to caring for her family, especially her parents in their declining years. She loved music and showed an interest in it at the young age of four. She was an accomplished pianist and she loved to dance. Friends lovingly remember her as dancing for exercise at BREC in her later years. She was efficient at everything she undertook and was extremely conscientious about her work life. Accolades for accomplishments and good works were voiced by many through the years; but none topped being named Champion Baby at the South Louisiana State Fair at the age of one in 1928. Cora Lee graduated from Dutchtown High School and a Baton Rouge Business College and then embarked on a clerical career. She retired from Barnard&Burk Engineers as an Executive Secretary after spending over 33 years in their employ. Prior to working for Barnard&Burk, she spent fourteen years as a Secretary for the following agencies: the Louisiana Forestry Commission, the Louisiana Agricultural Extension Service, the Department of Agriculture/Livestock Sanitary Board and Gulf States Underwriters. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Goodwood Villa Civic Association, Fur Fins&Feathers Club, Colonial Study Club, Les Enchantes Dance Club and BREC Busy Bodies. Serving as Pall Bearers will be Herman Bidstrup, Greg Mistric, Dale St. Cyr, Brian Miller, Brian Theis and Brenden Simoneaux. Honorary Pall Bearers are Don Delaville, Joe Herring and Dan Stegemoeller. Memorial donations may be made to the Prairieville Cemetery, P. 0.
