
A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother will be missed dearly by all who knew her - a generous and kind lady. She was a native of Plaquemine, La. and resident of Baton Rouge. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Hospice of Baton Rouge Butterfly Wing inpatient unit at Baton Rouge General's Mid City hospital on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. She was 89 and a retired Personnel Manager with the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting will resume at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd., on Thursday at 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. concelebrated by the Rev. Jason Palermo. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bradley Romano, Bryan Romano, Jason Romano, Ronnie Romano, Tony Romano, Thomas Lindsey, nephew, Peter Palermo III and longtime friend, John W. Marno. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Romano Lindsey and her husband Mark Perry, and Maralena Romano Murphy and her husband John E. Murphy, Jr.; son, James P. Romano and his wife Pamela B. Romano; daughter-in-law, Gretchen Vaughn Romano Thibodeaux and her husband Carl Thibodeaux; nine grandchildren, Shannon Wyszomerski, Thomas Lindsey, Bryan Romano, Rustin Romano Ronnie Romano, Tony Romano, Bradley Romano, Jason Romano and Shelly Murphy Pendergrass; and 15 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy A. Romano, Sr.; son, Roy ""Buddy"" Romano, Jr.; parents, Peter Palermo and Lena Crescionne Palermo; son-in-law, Thomas O. Lindsey; brother, Peter Palermo, Jr. and Sabastain ""Buster"" Palermo. She enjoyed going fishing at her camp on False River, her annual vacations to Florida with her family, and LSU football and tailgating with her family. She attended Plaquemine High School and Business College and was a member of the Greater Baton Rouge American Italian Association. The family would like to thank the staffs of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice of Baton Rouge and The Butterfly Wing unit. A special thank you to her loving and devoted caregiver, Debra White, with whom she shared a special bond.
