Dale Prothro

Virginia “Dale” Prothro, longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 84. She was a longtime member of Jefferson Baptist Church, and her family was her life. Dale is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Jay Prothro; daughters, Connie Newton and husband Rick, Linda Sibley and husband Doc, and Pat Crawford and husband Dale; “adopted daughter,” Joye Young; grandchildren, Michael Newton and wife Coral, Rich Newton and wife Amy, Jason Crawford and wife Chelsy, Amy Chauvin and husband Chad, Brandon Meche and wife Angela, and Nicole Meche; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Barbara “Tiny” Hawthorne, and Mac-Ceen Mills. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 11:00 am until the funeral service begins at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
