

Dan is survived by his devoted wife, Kathryn Hannaman McDonald, to whom he was married for almost 71 years; his son, the Honorable Judge J. Michael McDonald and his spouse Memrie; and his daughter, Nancy McDonald Finnerman and her spouse Dennis of Pasadena, California.
He is also survived by six grandchildren: Charles Taylor McDonald and his spouse Nancy, Rebecca McDonald Maher and her spouse Stephen, Daniel M. McDonald and his spouse Jessica, Kathryn Johnston Adams Sweet and her spouse The Rev. John Sweet, Laurie Johnston Adams Ninchief and her spouse Andre’, Capt. Austin P. Adams (USMC) and his spouse Tiffany, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lois Fuller McDonald and Watson Middleton McDonald of Willow Glen Plantation, Delta Point, Louisiana, sister Marguerite McDonald Pillow and her husband Dudley of Schlater, Mississippi, and his son-in-law Capt. Mickey L. Johnston (USAF).
Dan graduated from Tallulah, La. High School in 1935 and from L.S.U. in 1940. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Louisiana Epsilon Chapter. He worked for Ethyl Corporation as a supervisor in operations and the Safety Department until his retirement.
He was an avid deer hunter and had been a long time member of the Black Hawk Hunting Club. He was a member of the Double D Hunting Club until the age of 90. That year he killed Judge William Dupont’s deer with Judge Dupont’s gun in the judge’s deer stand.
Dan and his family would like to thank his caregivers: his special “body-guard” Emily Ranger, Doris Scivicque, Thomas Rhodes, and Ryan Leggio.
A special thanks to our devoted friends Susan and Dr. Prentiss Smith, Lynn Graner, and Prof. Jesse and Rita Walker.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home , 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 2pm with internment to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice or a charity of your choice.
