Dana Lamke Reed, age 67, passed from this earthly life on Sunday, July 23, 2023, to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. Dana was born in Columbia, MO and grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and in Colorado. She was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA at the time of her death.
Dana loved people! That showed in every area of her life. She worked at Ochsner Clinic for over 25 years, recruiting physicians. She believed in serving her community and Habitat for Humanity was one of her favorite organizations because it made an impact close to home. Her relationship with God was the most important thing in her life. When asked at a conference ice breaker to tell 3 things about who she was, the very first thing she said was, “I am a child of God.” Dana shared her gifts by going to Uganda on a mission trip, creating a lunch box ministry and serving on staff of the Joy Conference for Women. Her heart was also geared to animals. She loved them immensely and assisted with CAAWS and animal transport to new homes.
Family was precious to Dana. She enjoyed playing games and swimming with her grandsons almost as much as she liked chocolate shakes! She excelled in her work life, completing a rigorous examination for FASPR (Fellow of Association of Staff Recruiters) and serving as a national officer.
Dana is survived by her two loving children, Olivia Ryder and Adam Reed; grandsons Ewan and Liam Reed; sisters Linda (Grady) Bubener and Sharon (Budd) Manuel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Charles and Virginia Lamke.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 205 North 4th Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70801. Honorary pallbearers are Grady Bubenzer, Budd Manuel, Christopher Reed, Patrick Sibley, Elden Buckminister and Gerry Markley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. James Episcopal Church Outreach ministry or the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge and MD Anderson Cancer Center for their amazing care.
