
A beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, Dan Kelly died at home on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007. He was 42, born in Iowa and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting on Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until service at 10:30 a.m. A lifelong advocate for children, he spent much of his time actively supporting youth activities throughout Louisiana. He was the owner of Southern Fine Finishings and a well-respected businessman in the community. Remembered for his kindness and generosity, Dan was a board member of the Baton Rouge Barrel Racing Association and a member at large of the Louisiana High School Rodeo Association. He was once a police officer and a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a state licensed building contractor. Dan was also very active in his children's lives and supported them in their numerous activities. Dan was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish and do numerous other outdoor activities with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Kelly; mother, Barbara Kelly and father, Larry Kelly, both of Baton Rouge; a son, Michael Kelly; a daughter, Kayla Kelly; a brother, John Kelly, of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Dawn Cahill and husband Bill Cahill, of Honeybrook, Pa., Jennifer Duhon and husband Jarrod Duhon, of Huntersville, N.C.; mother-in-law, Gloria Tabone, of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Sandy Stimson and husband Brian Stimson, of Traverse City, Mich.; brother-in-law, Gary Tabone, of Westland, Mich.; nieces and nephews, Austin and Scott Cahill, Justin, Jordyn, and Joey Duhon, Breanne and Patrick Stimson, Matthew and Toney Tabone. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Helen Houseman and Richard and Theresa Kelly. Pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law, Bill Cahill and Jarrod Duhon, nephews, Austin and Scott Cahill, uncle, Jim Kelly, and friends, Brett Blanchard, Shane Grimmett and Paul Barranco.
