
Retired president of the Union Federal Savings and Loan Association, he died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008. He was 87, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of New Orleans. He served in Navy Intelligence from 1942 to 1946. Visiting at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Very Rev. John Carville. Entombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Evelyn Tiblier Hoffman; two daughters, Sarita DuVernay, and Penny Nelson and husband Scott; three sons, Daniel R. Hoffman, Tico Hoffman and wife Mitzi, and Sparky Hoffman and wife Pat; three sisters, Mackie Hoffman Amrock and husband Edward, Tootie Hoffman Bush and husband Joe, and Shirly Hoffman Duteil and husband Joseph; 10 grandchildren, Louise "T Lou" DuVernay Babin and husband Kevin, Aimee DuVernay, Keith Hoffman and wife Erin, Thomas Hoffman, Kathleen Hoffman, Steven Nelson, Daniel Nelson, Matthew Nelson, Sarah Nelson and Jack Hoffman; and two great-grandchildren, Miles Babin and Caroline Babin. Preceded in death by his parents, Frances Faulk and Daniel H. Hoffman Sr. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. He was a graduate of Tulane University, president of the Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and board member of the Baton Rouge Country Club.
