The son of Dudley Joseph Couvillon and Lucille Landry Couvillon, David Francis Couvillon was born on November 21, 1935, in Baton Rouge, LA. He graduated from both Catholic High School and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. The early days of his business career as a chemical engineer occurred in Port Arthur, TX. Later he moved to Baton Rouge, commencing a long career with Ethyl Corporation (now Albemarle Corporation), eventually retiring from the company in Magnolia, AR. He passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 in Magnolia. David was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Peggy Kelly Couvillon; siblings Bro. ElliotT Couvillon, S.C., Thomas Couvillon, and Maybelle Couvillon Navarre. He is survived by his two children, son Donald William Couvillon of El Dorado, AR and daughter Joan Couvillon O’Burke of Beaumont, TX. In addition to his two children, he is survived by grandson Jeremy O’Burke, wife Carley Thompson Couvillon, and son Joshua O’Burke, all of Beaumont, TX; granddaughter Miranda Couvillon and daughter, McKinsey Ramsey, of El Dorado; brothers: Harold Couvillon, Baton Rouge; James Couvillon (wife Audrey), Dallas, TX; Patrick Couvillon, Richardson, TX; Lawrence Couvillon (wife Janet), Lafayette, LA; Rev. Brother Louis Couvillon, S.C., Edison, NJ; sisters Margaret Couvillon Bell (husband Herbert), Dallas, TX; and Carole Couvillon Ackman (husband Ronald), Baton Rouge. He is also survived by stepchildren Allison Windham Simpson (husband Bobby), Baton Rouge; David Windham, Sr. (wife Valerie), Baton Rouge; Daryl Windham (wife Donna), Kenner, LA; nine step-grandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren. A lifelong fan of LSU and the Dallas Cowboys football programs, David will be remembered for the twinkle in eyes as he enjoyed a good joke, and for his dedication to his family. David’s life will be celebrated at a service to be held at the chapel at Greenoak Memorial Park Chapel, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM, followed at 3:00 PM with the Celebration of Life service to be officiated by David’s brother, Rev. Bro. Louis Couvillon. Reception and graveside service and will follow.
