Debbie Obear Hawkins passed into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on April 26, 2022, just days before her sixty-fourth birthday. Born in White Castle to a family of many ministers, she was a Godly woman who loved her family unconditionally and exercised unfailing generosity. Although she faced many physical ills through the years, anyone who saw her smile and experienced her stylish presence knew her spirit to be joyful. Before retiring, Debbie worked in dietary services at Baton Rouge General. She enjoyed singing in her church’s Gospel choir, cooking, and spending time with her family near and far.
Left to mourn her loss and celebrate her life are her two sons Raymond Williams (and wife Chakaira) of Franklinton, and their son Christian Williams, and Michael Todd Williams of Baton Rouge, and his children Modesty White, and Michael and Mikaelya Williams, and one daughter Tina Williams, her daughter Chelsea Williams, and Chelsea’s daughters Angel and Amirah, all of Baton Rouge. She also leaves behind her beloved husband, Emmanuel Hawkins, her brothers Gary Obear and Al James Obear of Baton Rouge, and many nieces and nephews.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Alja “Louis” Obear and Ceola Tate Obear, a sister, Leola Obear, and one granddaughter, Sincere Williams. Services will be held under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home at St Mary’s Baptist Church, 1252 North Acadian Thruway, on Saturday, May 7. at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.
