Debbie was born December 27, 1956, the eldest of seven children born to Sammie and Margaret Phillips. She grew up in Leland, MS, and was a 1975 graduate of Leland High School. She also attended Mississippi Delta Junior College.
In 1980 she married Bill McManus, and after the birth of their son, they made their home in Louisiana.
Debbie was a faithful LSU Tiger fan. She also loved doing jigsaw puzzles at her dining room table, spending time with her husband, son and daughter-in-law, chatting with her sisters on the phone, and ABSOLUTELY loved a great bargain or discount. She was also looking forward to the birth of her first grandchild in the fall.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Sammie Phillips, mother-in-law, Frankie McManus, father-in-law, Walter McManus and brother-in-law Melvin Hughes.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, William “Bill” McManus; son and daughter-in-law, William and Robin McManus; siblings, Sammie Fay Hughes, Randy (Sandra) Phillips, Judy (Al) Piercey, Ressia (Rusty) Allen, Donna (Jimmy) Smith, Kevin (Paige) Phillips; nieces, Sunshine, Kelly, Nikki, Beth, Maggie, Onna, Samantha, Morgan; and nephews, Adam and Sam, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Last but not least, she leaves her most loyal companion, Bear, her Pomeranian. He was always by her side or laying at her feet.
The family will be receiving friends at her home, Saturday, March 12 after 3 p.m. There will be a Memorial Service in her hometown of Leland, MS for friends and family on March 26, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the “Cabins on the Bogue.” Address: 815 Patterson Road, Leland, MS.
