

She entered into her eternal life on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born April 1, 1939, in Clairton, Pa. She was a resident of Denham Springs. Dee was an avid sponsor, supporter and volunteer for Association for Retarded Citizens and Special Olympics since 1967. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Monday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Alec Sheldon, celebrant. Interment in Azalea Rest Cemetery in Zachary. Survived by her husband, William Baker Sr.; sons, Darrel Baker and wife Vickie, Pete Baker and wife Vicki, William Baker Jr., Mark Baker and Greg Baker and wife Shannon; daughters, Mary Baker, Marjorie Beard and husband Thomas and Alice Mitchell and husband Doug; 29 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Dora Lombardi Doerr; son, Jerry Baker; daughter-in-law, Linda Baker; and grandson, Jamie Baker. Memorial donations may be made to The Special Olympics.
