

A resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 64, born April 29, 1943. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as an officer in the Corps of Engineers and was a senior estimator for Cribbs Inc. with 40 years of service. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Friday, Dec. 21, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes Saturday, Dec. 22, from 8:15 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Frank Bains Stagg. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lecarol Cribbs Chatelain, of Baton Rouge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Ann Chatelain and Robbie and Bridgette Chatelain, all of Baton Rouge; a daughter and son-in-law, Allynn and Gary Kennedy, of Baton Rouge; a sister, Carol Sue Moeller, of Santa Cruz, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Hart Chatelain, Lauren Michelle Chatelain, Mallory Marie Chatelain, Matthew Hart Chatelain, Marlee Sarah Chatelain, Taylor Allynn Kennedy and Griffin Lee Kennedy, all of Baton Rouge; three stepgrandchildren, Samantha Lane Geautreaux, of Baton Rouge, and Dusty Reid Bailey and JoAnna Rea Bailey, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and two nephews, Justen Henry Moeller and Haskel Merrick Moeller, both of Santa Cruz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrick Jasper Chatelain and Estelle Taylor Chatelain Echols. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Matthew Hart Chatelain and Griffin Lee Kennedy, Gary L. Kennedy, Virgil G. Joiner, Percy A. Lemoine Jr., Dale T. Plauche, Charles P. Coghlan, Kim D. Jarreau, Robert E. Burke and William D. Walker. Honorary pallbearer is George Simon. He was a 1962 graduate of Baton Rouge High School and LSU, as well as a member of the LSU "L" Club. He served on the board of directors of Louisiana Roofing Contractor's Association, was past president of Baton Rouge Roofing and Sheet Metal Association, past king of Krewe of Iduna, a member of the Krewe of Tucumcari, past ball captain and King Tucumcari 1992. He was an avid outdoorsman, chess enthusiast and coached youth baseball in the Baton Rouge City League for several years. He was a member of Ingleside United Methodist Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Kahn and wife Dana, the doctors, nurses and staff of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Hospice of Baton Rouge and Home Instead Sitter Service for all of their compassion, kindness and support.
