
Donald McCloud Leinweber passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at age 86. A loving father, Don is survived by four children: three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Katie, Scottsdale, Ariz., Paul and Jonna, Baton Rouge, and Bruce and Andree, Destrehan, and daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Danny Leslie, Edmond, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Scott, Lauren, Alyssa, and Anna Leinweber, Jennifer and Katherine Leslie, Michael Monnin, Sarah Munson and Hunter Sullivan; a nephew, Fred Leinweber, Richardson, Texas; and dear friend, Dianne Rhoads, Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Ada Louise Bruington Leinweber; brother, Alfred DuWayne Leinweber; and parents, Alfred Henry and Anna Lou Leinweber. Don was born in Urich, Mo., on Sept. 7, 1924. He graduated from high school in Lee's Summit, Mo., completing his college education at Cal Tech while enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A commissioned naval officer, Don served as a naval aviator in the Pacific in both World War II and the Korean War. A resident of Baton Rouge since 1963, Don worked at Kaiser Aluminum as a Professional Engineer until his retirement. Don was an active member of the Baton Rouge community, First Christian Church and St. James Place. Visitation at First Christian Church, 8484 Old Hammond Highway, on Friday, June 24, from 12:30 p.m. until funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Graveside service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge or First Christian Church.
