

"Donald Joseph Mayeux, age 83, longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, May 7, 2018. He was born in Marksville, LA, on Dec. 18, 1934. He served in the LA National Guard and Reserves and graduated from LSU with a Masters +30 in Education. He was a teacher, coach, and assistant principal in the EBRPSS where he touched the lives of many during his 33 and a half years of service. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, and was an avid fan of all LSU sports. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Martha Richard Mayeux; his four children, Gordon Mayeux (Kathy), Kathryn "Kay" Mayeux, Don Mayeux (Michele), and Beth Carver (Brian); his grandchildren Kathryn Mayeux, Becca (Chris) Foster, Amanda Mayeux, Paige Mayeux, Kyle Carver and Colleen Carver; his great-grandchildren, Cooper and Lucas Foster; and his sister, Rose Marie Low. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsmere and Ola Mayeux. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd, from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, with burial at Greenoaks Memorial Park to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
