Donald McLean Sr.

Donald Hugh McLean, Sr. was called home to be with our Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the age of 82. Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Kathleen Gay McLean, who went to be with the Lord only eleven days prior; his parents, Kenneth and Harriet McLean; his siblings, Kenneth McLean III, Robert McLean, Susie McLean Roccaforte; and his much loved and missed grandson, Cody Michael Wysinger. Donald is survived by his two children, Stacey McLean and Donald McLean, Jr. (Triny); his grandchildren, Chase McLean Wysinger, Karlee Kathleen Wysinger, Cooper Isaac Guidry; and a host of loved nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Don loved his family and his country. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman from 1961 to 1964. He was stationed in Germany and earned a Good Conduct Medal and commendations as a Sharpshooter (Rifle M14) and Expert (Pistol .45). Don was proud of his time as President of the Teamsters Local 5, and he retired from Formosa Plastics, following his career as a Plant Operator. He enjoyed camping, but his greatest joy in life was being with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Don was a hardworking man who loved being a help to others. He was a strong man that everyone could count on to be there when he was needed. His larger than life presence, hugs, and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM, with a service at 1:00. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
