Donald Lee Weinman, a native of Merrick, Long Island, New York and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away peacefully on April 13, 2016 in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 82. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Carole A. Weinman (deceased May 15, 2012), married in Cure’ of Ars Church, Merrick, New York on September 3, 1955. His parents, Florence Elizabeth Joyce of Kingston, NY and Walter Lee Weinman of Brooklyn, NY, and his sister Joan Kemper of Islip Terrace, NY. He is survived by his son, Richard Weinman and daughter in law Katherine Lahl-Weinman, his son, Thomas Weinman, Grandsons Lance and Chris Weinman and his partner, Hillary Taylor Henderson and great grandson, Bentlee – Lane-Dean Weinman. His sister, Joyce Lyons of Acworth, GA. In addition to numerous nieces and a nephew. Don was born in Amityville, Long Island, New York on September 23, 1933. He grew up in Merrick, Long Island, New York and attended Xavier High School in New York City. He attended Fordham University in the Bronx, NY, and majored in Business Administration. He was a SFC US Army Reserve, Military Police. He was a supervisor at Shell Chemical Geismar, LA. He was an avid golfer and huge baseball fan, a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Mets. He was active in many charitable events, a member of Ancient order of Hibernians and loved marching in the St. Patty’s Day Parade in his green tuxedo. He enjoyed his Monday lunches with the Boys. All friends and family are invited to attend the visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815....Tel. 225-925-5331, from 4pm-8pm on Wednesday, April 20. Visitation will resume at 10am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church St. Thomas More Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd. (in Sherwood Forest), Baton Rouge, LA 70815 then the funeral service will begin at 11am. Burial with military honors will follow at Port Hudson National Cemetery, 20978 Port Hickey Rd., Zachary, LA 70791. All are invited to attend the funeral service and service at the cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers, Sage, Capital House Nursing Home and St. Joseph Hospice for the care they gave to our beloved Donald.
