I am deeply saddened to hear of Donna’s passing, but I know that her suffering has ended and she is with our Father in Heaven. She leaves behind many friends and family who will miss her smiling face and her indomitable spirit. She was a great friend and inspiration to me while I was trying to find my way in the DHS Band. She always took time to encourage me and inspired me to work harder on my trombone. In the years after High School I could always count on a cheerful word from her or a pick me up as we kept in touch via Facebook. Through her many ordeals she was a rock! You never saw anything but a smile on her face or a cheerful word on her lips. She was a true light in a time of darkness in this world. With so much evil and disturbing news abounding, she brought light in to brighten the day. She will be truly missed. My prayers go out to the family in your time of grief.

Donna and I met at USM. We were the best of friends. Conversations and music rehearsals and concerts were endless. We remained close until about ten years ago. Her gifts are infinite, and now she is leading the choirs of angels. Rest In Peace.....

I first met Donna when she and I were extras on the set of the filming of “Everybody’s All American” in Baton Rouge. We laughed and laughed joking about how we were going to end up on the cutting room floor, and we did. It was the beginning of a friendship, though. I later called her when I thought about going into broadcast journalism… And then of course years later I was working with her at WAFB. SHE was the best teacher I ever had… All on the job. She encouraged me and cared enough to critique my writing. I am forever indebted. I am heartbroken for her beautiful family and will have you all in prayer.
