Doris “Dot” Hazlip Carter at the age of 91 passed away at her home in Baton Rouge, LA, on Sunday, September 25, 2022. She was born on January 31, 1931, to Jack and Bertie Hazlip of Wilkinson County, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 72 years, Alex Dave Carter; 4 sisters, Molly Johnson, Louise Ashley, Corinne Stephens, and Irene Cavin; and 3 brothers, Jake Hazlip, John Dugger Hazlip, and Thomas Hazlip. She is survived by her son, Dave Carter (Cynthia) and daughter, Janet Curtis (Randy); three granddaughters, Amie Mendes (Andres), Adriene Ashley (Steve), and Hannah Curtis; and great granddaughters, Savana Ashley, Ada Ashley, Millie Ashley, Catherine Mendes, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was a member of South Baton Rouge Church of Christ. She enjoyed hosting family and friends for many years. Her grandkids and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. She adored traveling, antiquing, fishing, cooking, and homemade vanilla ice cream! Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Corinth Church of Christ of Woodville, MS, with visitation from 1-2 and services at 2, followed by interment at Carter Cemetery near Woodville MS. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis, TN.
