

A native and resident of Baker, Dorothy peacefully passed away Thursday morning, July 18, 2013, at home. She was 77, a former school bus driver and a hair dresser for more than 30 years. Dot was a strong, kind hearted person who was very loved by her family and friends. Those who knew her would say she was a fashionista who always liked to shop - especially on QVC - and was always dressed to perfection. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Maw-Maw Dot. She was a courageous lady throughout her life no matter what obstacles were thrown her way, and a very giving and selfless woman who offered comfort to those around her. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Charmon and Ronnie Breaux, Michelle and Jimbo Robertson, Darnell Bergeron, and Shasta and Clayton Toups; grandchildren, Cheree Burkett and husband Jason, Rachael Pearson and husband Kevin, Lauren Breaux, Chad Robertson, Chelsea Smith and husband Justin, Hunter Owens, Luke and Sarah Toups; great-grandchildren, Blaine and Ava Burkett, and Mazie Smith; sisters, Jessie Martinez and Ruby Harrington; sister-in-law and best friend, Ruth "Tiny" Bergeron; stepsisters, Betty and Sunny; and stepbrother, Lionel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Kearney Joseph Bergeron; parents, Connie H. Kennedy Sr. and Stella Jane; stepmother, Ethel Blanchard; brothers, Gaynell and Connie H. Jr.; stepbrother, Billy; and her husband's siblings, Kermit, Gary, Malcom, Rita, Ida Mae, and Carol Faye. Special thanks to her loving caregivers, Crystal Jackson, Dee Williams, and Linda Johnson. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Breaux, Jimbo Robertson, Chad Robertson, Hunter Owens, Blaine Burkett and Luke Toups. Visitaiton will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Glen Miers. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
