

"Dorothy Adell Patch Butterworth, 89, passed away on May 31, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia after a brief illness. Adell was born in Orlando, Florida on October 6, 1928, but she lived most of her life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Atascocita, Texas. Upon graduation from Louisiana State University, she was employed by Esso in Baton Rouge, where she met the love of her life in an employee carpool. She was married for 63 years to Joseph Franklin Butterworth, Jr., who preceded her in death. In 2011, she and Joe moved from Texas to Atlanta, Georgia to be near their daughters. Adell enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, china painting, sewing, sailing, and traveling and was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church and a charter member of Atascocita United Methodist Church in Humble, Texas. She is survived by daughters Beth Adell Butterworth and Sharon Lynn Butterworth Hermann (Paul) of Atlanta, Georgia; sister Elizabeth Patch Lowman of Plano, Texas; three grandchildren and four nieces and nephews; and their extended families. The family is grateful to the many loving caregivers who supported Adell in Atlanta. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana followed by a family graveside service at 11:00 am at Roselawn Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 22, at 2:00 pm at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Road, Decatur, GA 30033.
