
"Dorothy "Dottie" Helmstetter Lieux lived a full, prosperous life as a Catholic woman with strong beliefs in God and love for her family. She was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge; Dottie died at 93 years old on Sunday, March 11, 2018. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 22, 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents Gustave William Helmstetter and Olivia Annette Reou Helmstetter. Preceding her in death, she happily shared her life with her husband of seventy years, James Neilan "Buddy" Lieux. Dottie is survived by her sister Beverly Helmstetter Fife and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a dedicated, loving mother to James "Jim" Lieux, Jr. (Ellen), Jeanne Walker (D.L), the late Anne Burnett (Jim), and Paul Lieux (Cathy). Momee had six grandchildren: Kristen Lieux Feigles (Brian), Angelle Burnett Higbie (Aaron), Karamie Lieux Rotolo (Scott), Brandt Lieux (Jessica), Landon Lieux (Sarah) and Austin Lieux (Brittany). Momee was also blessed with seven great grandchildren; Benton Lieux, Matthew Rotolo, Adelle Higbie, William Rotolo, Skylar Lieux, Bankston Lieux and Logan Lieux. Dottie graduated from Baton Rouge High School and Baton Rouge Business College. She was a loving home maker, and after her children were grown, she worked briefly for the Baton Rouge City Police. Dottie was a member of the Krewe of Tucumcari and the Krewe of Iduna. During her life she belonged to Sacred Heart, Our Lady of Mercy, St. Thomas Moore, and St. Louis King of France Catholic Churches. On Monday, March 19, 2018, a private funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with visitation at 9:00 am and Mass at 10:00 am. A Christian burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.
