Dorothy R. Ivy

A resident of Baton Rouge, she was an accountant for Haynes Motor Lines for the past 10 years and a retired accountant for U.S. Steel (formerly Uniroyal) with 38 years of service. A native of Maryland, she died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug, 2, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. Visitation at St. Luke Episcopal Church, Pope Hall, on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. until religious service in the church at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Joseph Hermerding. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia P. Spinks and her husband, Andy; sister, Mary Vivian Stine; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Harrison and her husband, Paul, Holly Surratt and her husband, Dennis, and Melanie E. Spinks; two grandsons, Andrew Spinks and his wife, Lisa, and Robert Law III and his wife, Erica; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, James F. Ivy; and daughter, Elaine P. Gardiner. We would like to give special thanks to Beverly and Ann, her caregivers from Home Instead.
