

Dorothy “Dot” Rutherford Murray, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, was entrusted to God’s care on May 22, 2025, surrounded by her children at home. She was 92 years old, a resident of Seabrook, TX and former resident of Baton Rouge and Zachary, LA.
Dot was born in Hattiesburg, MS to the late George “Dutch” and Otha “Cotton” Edmonson. After a longtime employment, she retired from the Cerebral Palsy Center in Baton Rouge, LA. Dot loved laughing and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, needlework and completing word games.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene “Brother” Edmonson; sister, Bobbi Edmonson; husbands, Ruel R. Rutherford and Harry A. Murray; and grandchild, Brodie Alford. She is survived by her children, Jerry Rutherford (Wanda), Judy Humble, Linda Moon (Ron), and Lisa Cange (Steve); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 11 am until funeral service at 1 pm, conducted by Brother Mike Morris of Foster Road Baptist Church and music will be provided by Danny and Sandy Miller.
