
Dorothy was a loving and faithful servant of Jesus Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her country and was a supportive Army wife for 34 years. Home at last. Dorothy was a homemaker, a native of Chicago and a resident of Baton Rouge. She died 8:28 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Flannery Oaks Guest House. Dorothy was 89. Visitation at Riverdale Baptist Church on Monday, Dec. 27, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Preston Thompson. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery in Montgomery, Ala. She is survived by a daughter, Judy P. Shattuck and husband Gene; son, Greg Pelham; three grandchildren, Kenny Wells and wife Lisa, Larry Wells and wife Susie, and Mike Turner; great-grandchildren, Kenny, Blaine and Tyler Wells, Bailey and Bradley Wells, and Erin Turner; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston C. Pelham; daughter, Patricia Wells; parents, James and Dixie Windham Barber; granddaughter, Charlene Wells; seven brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Life Source Hospice Services of Baton Rouge. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., is in charge of arrangements.
