Dorothy "Dot" Sanders, a native of Bogalusa, Louisiana, and a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on June 10, 2026, at the age of 79. Dot was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and foster parent whose kindness touched countless lives. She cherished family gatherings, loved collecting angels, and was delighted in spoiling other people's children. Over the years, she opened her heart and home to 19 foster children, providing love, support, and stability to those in need. Her door was always open, and everyone was welcome.
Dot genuinely loved people and they loved her in return. She believed in the goodness of others, and approached life with compassion, warmth, and an open heart. Many in the community knew Dot for her gentle demeanor while working as a cashier at Albertsons and Walmart. Children were especially drawn to her kindness; they often brought her drawings, which she proudly displayed at her register for all to see.
Dot's loving spirit, generosity, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
Dot is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Hebert (Paul Kuber); two grandchildren, Franky Hebert (Mallory) and Samantha Hebert; two great-grandchildren, Ethan McDowell and Brock Hebert; her brother, Charlie O’Bryant (Kathy); and numerous foster children, close friends, nieces and nephews.
Dot will be joining the love of her life, Travis, her parents, Abe and Geneva Crockett O’Bryant; her sisters Elizabeth Trimble, Kathleen Halbert, and Sally Gormanous in Heaven.
A visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 9 am until funeral service at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Franklinton, LA. Reception at the home of Travis and Dot Sanders afterwards. All are welcome.
