Dorothy Sheets

"I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness Dorothy Helton "Dottie" Sheets, 73, a native of Bogalusa, and a resident of Zachary, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 25, 2012. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her children, Barbara Scroggs Nugent and husband Weldon, Greg Scroggs and wife Melissa, Tim Scroggs and wife Jackie and Suzie Scroggs and fiancé Darryl Bonanno; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruenell Estep and husband Everett, and Gwen Vick and husband Bill; two stepsisters and a stepbrother; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex A. Sheets; mother, Agnes Snowden; father, George Helton; stepmother, Willie Mae Helton; brother, Randy Helton; and nephew, Skipper Vick. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, March 29, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice, Dr. Cooley, Dr. Sandra Weitz and all the nurses and doctors at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital who took such loving care of her through her illness.
