Dorothy Wolsefer Stringer, born April 7, 1919, passed into the welcoming presence of her Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2008. Zelton Stringer, her beloved husband of 56 years, her sister, Elizabeth Jarreau, and her brothers, Ira and Robert Wolsefer, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Dianne Kennard Dickerson and husband Lemmie Dickerson Sr., Judge J. Byron Stringer and wife Frances Avants Stringer, and Debra Stringer Parker; as well as eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was a member of Istrouma Baptist Church. Foremost on her mind was the blessing of being a recipient of the Grace of God through Jesus Christ. For the last 11 years of her life she fought a valiant battle with great courage and faith in an existence that included muteness and extreme inactivity. It was obvious to all that she was aware of her circumstances and had resolutely set her heart on the path that the Lord had allowed in her life and continued to praise Him. She greatly loved her family and was loved by so many throughout her lifetime. A service to celebrate her homegoing conducted by the Rev. Ron Lambe of Istrouma Baptist Church will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Saturday, July 26, at 1 p.m., with interment immediately following in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until service. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. The family would like to thank Gertrude Williams, Ursula Pinkney, St. Claire Manor and Hospice of Baton Rouge for their loving care of MeMe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to Hospice of Baton Rouge.
