

He was born in Seven Kings, Essex, England in 1923 and received a BS in Engineering from the University of London.He served in WWII in the British Army with the 2ND Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers in Italy and Palestine, and Garrison Engineer in Egypt as Captain after WWII.
He was married to Barbara for 65 years. They left England in 1952, resided in Jamaica until 1967 when they moved to Baton Rouge. He retired a Professional Engineer after a career with Kaiser Aluminum in Jamaica, Baton Rouge and Gramercy from 1955 to 1983.He is survived by his daughter, Alison Heilesen (Frank), son Christopher Payton (Barbara), grandchildren Amanda Williams (Trond), Eric Payton (Autumn), Lisa Maassen, Sarah Brunet, Adam Payton (Danielle), great-grandchildren, Kellen, Anna, Evelyn, Grady, James and Clara.He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara and daughter Marion Jane, and his brothers Kenneth and Alan.
