Retired from Edison Brothers Co. and a native of Cottonport, Edgar J. Armand died at 10:02 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Ochsner Medical Center-Baton Rouge. He was 82, a resident of Baton Rouge and a former longtime resident of Metairie. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS South Dakota. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jerry Martin. Burial with military honors in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Faye McCollum Armand; two daughters, Pamela Stephenson and Phyllis Kennedy; son, Michael Armand; three sisters, Ann Austin, Rita Baglio and Lena Harmon; four grandchildren, Nichole Sylvester, Pamela Ferrara, Johnathan Weddington and Lee Weddington; and four great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and American Legion Post 267 in Jefferson.
