Edward F. Kerr

Ed lost a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at Peachtree Christian Hospice Center in Buford, Ga. He was born on Oct. 19, 1943, in Baton Rouge and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at LSU. Ed spent most of his career in the financial services industry and during the years he resided in Denver, Spokane, Wash., Seattle, Atlanta, Athens, Ga., and Sugar Hill, Ga. He was a passionate sports fan with a particular fervor for the LSU Tiger football team. As recently as Thanksgiving, he was cheering on his beloved Tigers during their three overtime loss to Arkansas like a man 30 years his junior. He was so pleased and proud to learn that his Tigers would play in the national championship game. In his later years, Ed enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball, softball and football. He also enjoyed reading nonfiction literature and writing. His family and friends will always remember Ed for his quick wit, sense of humor and dedication to his family. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. Kerr Sr. and Audrey M. Kerr. He is survived by his daughter, Virginia Kerr, of Sugar Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Evan and Amy Kerr, of New York; grandchildren, Samantha and Nicholas Kerr; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Karen Kerr, of Baton Rouge, and Chip and Marsha Kerr, of Waxhaw, N.C.; his beloved nephews, Chad, Jonathan and Patrick Kerr; aunts, Louise Alton, of Denton, Texas, and Peggy Plunkett, of Natchitoches; uncle, Miller Kerr, of Baton Rouge; and numerous loving cousins and friends. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday, Dec. 13, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation resumes Friday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment in Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to either the American Cancer Society, c/o Road To Recovery Program, P.O.
