

Edward E. Olexy, Jr., passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on August 28, 1943, to the late Edward and Jeanette Olexy, Sr., Edward was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA where he graduated from Istrouma High School in 1961 and went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Robbins Olexy in 1962. He proudly served in the US Army in the Panama Canal Zone for 4 years and then continued his education earning his bachelor’s degree from LSU in 1972. Edward excelled in a sales career working for Schick, Johnson & Johnson, and the Equitable. He was the owner of Stepping Stones Day Care Center in Baton Rouge for 33 years. Edward was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles in pen, watching football, and spending time with his family. He loved motorcycles, cars, airplanes and boats.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Olexy. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Olexy Billings and husband, Ronnie Billings Jr., and Malinda Olexy; sister Cindy Olexy LaFosse and husband Andre; brothers Keith Olexy and wife Mary, Robert Olexy and wife Lisa, and Ronald Olexy and wife Sue; grandchildren, Abbie Davis Wales and husband Tyler, and Haley Davis Boyd and husband Joshua; and 3 great grandchildren, Nora, Louis and Philip Wales.
A visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 10 am until funeral service at 12 pm, officiated by Dr. David Goza.
