Sgt. Wright served his country in the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army, from which he retired. A registered nurse, he served on the USS Salt Lake City in the Pacific Theater during World War II and three tours in Vietnam as a surgical nurse. After his retirement from the Army, he continued his medical service working with a local Baton Rouge ambulance company for a number of years. A native of Birmingham, Ala., and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007. He was 84. Visiting will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. until religious service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Terry Booth. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Mr. Wright is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Victor Kahl; and two grandchildren, Joyce and Caleb Kahl. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty Smith Wright; parents, Edward Sr. and Aline Wright; a sister, Eleanor Thompson; and a brother Lloyd Wright.
