

Edythe McCormick Holmes, 90, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. Born in Pike County, MS to Eddie Archie and Carrie McGuffee McCormick. Married Bernard F. Holmes in 1949 and was a devoted wife and wonderful mother. Visiting at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Dr., from 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 until religious service at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Fred Wideman and Rev. Ken Carroll. Graveside service at Hollywood Cemetery, McComb, MS at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Survived by a son, Robert Alan Holmes; a daughter, Marsha Arrighi and husband, Shirley; a grandson, Matthew Arrighi and wife, Jennifer; and a brother, William McCormick. Preceded in death by her husband, Bernard F. Holmes; her parents; her brothers, Paul Edward McCormick and Owen McCormick; and her sisters, Virginia Sanders and Thelma Bargas. Edythe enjoyed: spending time with family; cooking; dancing with Entre Nous, Frolicker's, Ladies of Bal Masque&Silver Strutters; exercising at BREC; learning with Faith Sunday School class, Colonial Study Club&DAR; serving with UMW and PEO sisters; playing Pokeno with friends; and attending Felders Campmeeting every summer.
