
Services for Mrs. Eileen Smith "Babee" Hawkins will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., with the Rev. Robert Brein Koehler officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, 2202 Military Highway, Pineville, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Barry Hoekstra officiating. Mrs. Hawkins, 100 years and 7 months of age, died at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, in Baton Rouge with her son, daughter and grandchildren at her side. Eileen was a member of First United Methodist Church in Alexandria until she relocated to Baton Rouge and became affiliated with St. Luke's Episcopal Church since 2006. She taught math in Glenmora, Alexandria Junior High and Alexandria Senior High as well as provided adult education and tutoring to an untold number of individuals during her lifetime. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey R. Hawkins; and parents, J. Walker and Dora Wallace Smith, who were of Lecompte; brothers, Dr. Wallace Harden Smith, J. Walker Smith Jr. James Hamilton Smith and Robert Bruce Smith; and sister, Dora Bernice Smith. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Rob Hawkins and his wife, Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Ashley Eileen, Jennifer Louise and Christopher Hawkins; sister-in-law, Dixon Smith, of Baton Rouge; and nephews, Dr. Wallace H. Smith, of North Carolina, Dr. Walker Smith, of Vermont, Steve B. Smith and James H. Smith, of Baton Rouge and their families. Pallbearers will be Dr. R.. Bruce Wallace Ill, Dr. Wallace H. Smith II, Steve B. Smith, Stephen A. Smith, James H. Smith and Daniel R. Safford. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. J. Walker Smith, Robert Bruce Smith, J. Walker Smith, Thomas G. Wallace, J. Walker Smith, W. Harden Smith, John James Wallace, Edgar Jordan, Thomas McMichael, Van Provosty, Robert Hunter, Jim Hicks, Wayne Hawkins, George Thompson. Dillon VanMol, Charles E. Safford, Todd Safford, Harold Safford, J.C. Safford III and Victor Canella. The family would like to express their appreciation for the never ending support of family, neighbors, professional associates and especially Dr. Mary Safford, Dr. Lara Falcon, Dr. Bradley Meek, Dr. Allan Pearce, Dr. James Hargrove, Ms. Tanya Thomassie, Ms. Gwen Dearing, James Foto Family string instrumentalists, Mrs. Kathy Elam, RN, Ms. Cotina Gross, NA, Alice Joseph, SW, David Canale, MS, the clergy, administrative and clinical staff of Amedisys and St Luke's Episcopal Church.
