A retired tax consultant for H&R Block with 44 years of service, she died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010. She was 76 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Monday, Sept. 27, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m. Survived by a daughter, Debra Thomas; two sons, Leonard Wade Burgess and James Milton Burgess; 11 grandchildren, Tara B. Osenenko, Mark Burgess, Trinity Burgess, Jennifer Burgess, Faith Thomas, Crystal Thomas, Dallas Thomas, Petra Thomas, Jordan Thomas, Jonah Thomas and Isaiah Thomas; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Marion L. Burgess; longtime companion, Lee Dantin; sister, Barbara Dando; and brother, Clyde Kirby.
