

Elbridge B. Charlton Sr., 87, peacefully left this Earth surrounded by his family at his home in Baton Rouge on Friday, April 8, 2011. He was a retired chief petty officer with the U.S. Navy who served during World War II and the Korean War. He also retired from Ethyl Corp. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria Aucoin Charlton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Juliana Clark, Carol and George Hutchcraft and Judy and Leonard Kenyon; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Elbridge B. Jr. and Kerry Charlton, and Jack Weber Charlton; 10 grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Tullier, Rusty and Amanda Ballard, Tammie and Alan Wright, Will Kenyon, Jill Kenyon, Bridget, Bobby Shaw, Sarah, Jay Harper Charlton and Max Charlton; 16 great-grandchildren, Holly, Heather, Isaac, Abigail, Megan, Kristen, Meagan, Ashley, Brittany, Emma Grace, Chandler, Colton, Emily, Sam, Joey and Ty; two great-great-grandchildren, Kassidy and Jace; and a first cousin, Joseph Butterworth Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbridge H. and Sarah Catherine Butterworth Charlton; an uncle, Joseph Butterworth; an aunt, Glayds Butterworth Smith; a great-grandson, Justin Wade Guillory; and a feline companion, "Wump." Pallbearers will be Elbridge Charlton Jr., Jack Charlton, Michael Tullier, Rusty Ballard, Will Kenyon and Leonard Kenyon. He was a board member of the QCWA national organization and president of the local chapter for numerous years. He proudly carried the ham radio call W5MD. Graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park on Monday, April 11, at 2 p.m. Very special thanks to our wonderful neighbors, Ron, Angel, Linda, Shane and Juanita.
