Eleanor was born on June 29, 1933, in Prince George, Virginia to John and Julia (Buchek) Koren. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Hopewell, Virginia where her parents were charter members.
Eleanor married Joseph Novotny on September 15, 1954. They were married for 62 years.
Eleanor was a woman of faith who loved to read God’s Word and was an example of faith, love and kindness for her children, grandchildren and friends.
Eleanor and her husband Joe loved square dancing and were active with the Tiger Twirlers in Baton Rouge, LA. She was also a member of the LWML and Homemakers Club.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents John Koren and Julia (Buchek) Koren; brothers John Koren and Gerald Koren; sister Esther (Koren) Wallat; Son William Joseph Novotny; and Husband Joseph Novotny.
Eleanor is survived by her sister Betty (Koren) Head (Jim); Daughters Sharon Dalpini (Doug) and Julie Jones (Guy); and Daughter-in-Law Deborah Novotny Upton.
Eleanor is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Erin Strybis (Jay), Andrew Dalpini (Crystal), Joshua Coon (Jenni), Daniel Jones, Renee Martin (Stephen), Warren Elhers Novotny (Storm), Martin Novotny (Mariena) and Thomas Aaron Novotny. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, at 12:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 15160 S Harrels Ferry Road, Baton Rouge, with Funeral Services starting at 2:00pm. Entombment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA. Memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour Ministries or The American Diabetes Association.
