

"Elizabeth Driesse, formerly of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2018. She was 92. Visitation will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church (located at 9150 Highland Road) on Friday, Jan. 26 from 9:00-11:00 am, with a rosary service at 9:45 am, and funeral mass at 11:00 am. Mrs. Driesse, formerly Elizabeth Bennett was a native of Astoria, Queens, NYC and was residing at Tapestry Assisted Living in Alpharetta, GA at the time of her passing. She had previously lived in Baton Rouge for 15 years. She was a deeply religious person who was known for her sweet personality and terrific sense of humor. She loved to show off her Irish heritage by performing an Irish Jig whenever she could. She never had to be asked twice to join someone on the dance floor. She was an active member of her previous parish's church altar ministry. She prided herself on her seamstress and cooking skills, but will mostly be remembered as a dedicated wife, a loving and nurturing mother, grandma and great grandma. Mrs. Driesse was preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Bennett; beloved husband of 67 years Edward M. Driesse, daughter Elizabeth Driesse McKown; twin great-granddaughters, Emma Michelle and Elizabeth Ann Denny. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Edward J. and Linda B. Driesse of The Woodlands, TX, James M. and Vicky B. Driesse of Baton Rouge and Kevin B. and Edythe S. Driesse of Simpsonville, SC; a daughter Therese and husband William Wortham of Alpharetta, GA; son-in-law Tobie F. McKown of Monroe; 13 grand-children and 18 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Russell Driesse, Justin Driesse, Brian Driesse, Scott Driesse, Christopher McKown and Todd Driesse. Ministers of the Word for the Funeral Mass are granddaughters Jennifer Driesse VanZandt, Kim McKown Bromell and Lindsay Wortham. Bearers of the gifts are granddaughters Stacey McKown Denny, Kristen Driesse Mason and Jamie McKown Johnson. Altar servers will be great-grandchildren Ben and Jed Denny. Reverend Trey Nelson will officiate the funeral.
