"Elizabeth Lee Lind, affectionately known as "Betty", peacefully departed this life on August 12, 2018 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, she was born on June 6, 1932. After graduating from high school in Birmingham, Betty attended LSU where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority until she married New Orleans native Frederick Everard Lind, Jr., a medical student at Tulane University. As Dr. Lind was an officer in the United States Air Force, the Lind family lived several years in Columbus, Ohio where their youngest child was born. The family then moved to the greater London area for four years. Touring England and Europe inspired Betty's passions for art, history, and travel. When her children grew older, she returned to LSU to pursue studies in these fields. Betty loved to entertain. She and Fred felt very fortunate that they had many like-minded friends in Baton Rouge, where they spent their last 49 years. They were longtime parishioners and choir members of Saint James Episcopal Church. Mrs. Lind was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, her parents John D. Lee and Sue Gordon Govan, her step-parents Charles T. Govan and Mildred Force Lee, sister Barbara Saufley, and brothers-in-law, Harold Frost Saufley, Jr. and John Dekker.
