

"Elsie Cooper Brown, native of Nettie Yuma, MS and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the age of 95. Elsie received her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics at Mississippi College in 1944 and her Master's Degree at LSU in 1971. She was also an avid tiger fan. Elsie was a member First Baptist Church (Doers' Class). She was a volunteer at Baton Rouge General, mentor at Reality House, and active in WMU. She was a member of Tucumcarie Krewe, American Association of University Women (AAUW), "Round the Clock" Garden Club, and a tour guide at Magnolia Mound. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Elsie is survived by her sons, William Lynn Brown III (Velma), Walter Clifton Brown (Fran), James Paul Brown, and Kenneth Clay Brown (Patricia Toups); grandchildren, Susie Gronseth, Dustin Brown, Billy Brown, Chris Brown, Johnathan Brown, and Andrew Brown; and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years of marriage, Lynn Brown, Jr. The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Keena Bynum, Gwendolyn James and Phyllis Rady. Pallbearers: Lynn Brown, Cliff Brown, Paul Brown, Kenneth Brown, Andrew Brown, Matt Gronseth, Dustin Brown, and Billy Brown. Honorary pallbearer: Carl Meriweather .Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 5pm until 8pm. A funeral service, conducted by Pastor Oren Conner, will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at Rabenhorst beginning at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Memorial donations in honor of Elsie Brown can be made to First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge.
