
Elsie Sanders Crapanzano (Sissy) passed away on September 5, 2013. She was born in Converse, Louisiana, on November 21, 1938, and was a long time resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After an advanced education, Sissy had a productive nursing career in clinical care, administration, education and leadership in the Baton Rouge community. Sissy was preceded in death by her mother Rita Sanders, father OL Sanders, brother Sidney Sanders, son in law Gregory Creed, and two dogs Casey and Rosie Crapanzano. She is survived by her husband Russell Crapanzano, six children, eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and her precious dog Daisy Belle. Her six children are Cathleen Creed, Russell Cropanzano, Michael Crapanzano, Susan Kalmbach, Carol Crapanzano and David Crapanzano. Her eight grandchildren are Alec Edelen, Erich Edelen, Lauren Crapanzano, Michael Crapanzano, Jr., Anna Kalmbach, Matthew Crapanzano, Josh Cropanzano and Timmy Cropanzano. Her great granddaughter is Emily Edelen. Sissy is also survived by two daughters in law Kathleen Crapanzano and Carol Bormann, a son in law Fred Kalmbach, and two granddaughters in law Kate Edelen and Lauren Edelen. Sissy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and love of family. The family wishes to express their appreciation to St. Joseph Hospice for their guidance and compassion throughout her transition from this earth. The funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, on Monday, Sept. 9, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Her final resting place will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge.
