

"A housewife and mother, Elsie Fabre Vallet passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at age 96. A resident of Baton Rouge, she was born in New Roads on October 13, 1920. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Tuesday, June 20, from 5 pm until 8 pm with recitation of the rosary at 7 pm by the St. Alphonsus Knights of Columbus Council. Visitation will resume at St. Mary of False River Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 21, from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am celebrated by the Rev. Msgr. Robert H. Berggreen. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Elsie is survived by three sons, Johnny and spouse Linda, Rick and spouse Robert Johnson, and Jody and spouse Eva; sister, Dolly Bennett; eight grandchildren, Rick Vallet Jr and wife Jen, Krystal Vallet Brignac, Peter Vallet, Michael Vallet, Donna V. Amick and husband Russell, Danny Vallet and wife Stephanie, Kathy V. Golden and husband Brian, and Holly V. Chenevert and husband Craig; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and loving Godchild, Charlotte Vallet Langlois. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Peter E. Vallet; two sons, Glenn M. Vallet and Terry Vallet; father, Raphael Fabre; mother, Leocadie Langlois Fabre; and four sisters and four brothers. Pallbearers will be Robert Johnson, Boo Langlois, Rick Vallet Jr., Alan Langlois, Danny Vallet, Jared Vallet, and Michael Vallet. Elsie was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a 1939 graduate of Poydras High School in New Roads. The family would like to express their appreciation to the caring staff of Landmark Nursing Home for the love shown to their mother.
