Elva Rose Williams George was born October 16, 1939 in Rodessa, Louisiana, to Hattie Rose Zella Brockner and Willie Weaver Williams. She graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1957, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana Technical Institute (now University) in 1962, her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Louisiana State University in 1984, and completed additional coursework beyond that. In addition to her family and education circles, she was a loyal and supportive member of other communities over the years, including St. Andrews United Methodist and other churches, Kappa Delta Sorority, and the Louisiana Indian Heritage Association. Through these activities and her long career as a classroom teacher and school librarian in Louisiana and Florida, she touched countless lives. She has gone to join her husband, James Curtis George; sister, Willie Juanita Williams; two brothers, Wilbur Weaver Williams and John Wesley Williams; grandson, Ethan Brockner Favrat George; and other family and friends. She is survived by her two sons, Richard Williams Tandy and Sean Patrick Scott George; daughter-in-law, Janine Marie Favrat George; grandchildren, Aidan Richard Kamvssa George, Trevor Donald Howard, and Emma Pauline Howard; and many other family and friends. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst East on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 10:00 am until services begin at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
