

Elvin O. McGee, aka “Brother”, a loving husband and father, passed away on Saturday February 27, 2016 at the age of 76. A resident of Central, LA, he was born on July 28, 1939 in Lafayette, LA. Elvin was an avid golfer, Saints fan and famous for his homemade biscuits. Elvin retired from the LA DOTD with 30+ years of service and later worked for WaveTech Engineering for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenney J. McGee, Sr. and Ila Blocker McGee; brother, Ellis McGee and sister-in-law, Mary McGee. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lena Valure McGee; devoted daughter Danette McGee, along with granddog, Teddy Bear. He is also survived by his brother Kenney J. McGee, Jr; two sisters Jewel Gurney (Larry) and Joy Parker.
Pallbearers will be his nephews: Larry Gurney, Jr., Jeffrey McGee, Darrell Gurney, Steven McGee, David McGee, William McGhee, James “Beau” Parker and Blake Martin. Visitation will be held on Thursday March 3, 2016 at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 5:30pm-9pm. Visitation will resume on Friday March 4, 2016 from 9:30am-11am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Services of Baton Rouge or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
