

age 95 was called home by her Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ, on July 12th,
2026.
Emogene was born September 16th, 1930
to John David Dillon and Ethel Mae Dillon
in Tylertown, MS.
She was raised on a dairy farm that
did not have electricity or running water
until 1940 and was accustomed to
hard work.
She graduated Tylertown High School,
attended Southwest Mississippi Junior College,
and graduated from Southeastern
Louisiana University.
Emogene moved to Baton Rouge and
started to work at Baton Rouge General
Hospital as a dietitian. She met and
eventually married Ernest Shuttleworth.
They were married for 32 years and had
one son, Darryl.
After an extended maternity leave,
she started working for Our Lady of the
Lake Hospital and eventually became
Director of Food Services. After 26 years
of dedicated service she retired.
She then enjoyed travelling, volunteering
for nursing homes, cooking and caring
for her family.
Emogene made a profession of faith
in 1945 and was baptized. Eventually
she moved her letter to Zoar Baptist Church
and became a member in 1988.
She loved basketball as a player
and fan. In her youth she earned a
basketball scholarship to Southwest Mississippi
Junior College.
Emogene was a dedicated and loving
wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her
husband Ernest Shuttleworth, father
John David Dillon, mother Ethel Mae Dillon,
brother Doyle Dillon, brother Ben Dillon,
brother Tom Dillon, sister Doris Mainord,
sister Mildred Conerly, and sister Genevieve
Colona.
She is survived by her son Darryl
Shuttleworth, granddaughter Kelli Conerly
and her husband Rayford, granddaughter
Amber Shuttleworth, great-granddaughter
Emma Conerly and great-granddaughter
Liz Conerly.
